Theanine:

Theanine is a rare amino acid found in high abundance in green tea. It is the compound responsible for green teas ability to increase cognition with a low risk of jitters. Several studies have shown its ability to increase alpha brain waves, the same brain waves experienced during deep meditation. Studies also suggest that theanine help improve sleep quality.

Oleamide is a fatty acid amide made naturally by our bodies in response to sleep deprivation. It has a sedating effect and helps induce deep sleep.

Lemon Balm is an herb that exhibits anxiolytic effects and can be useful for reducing stress and improving sleep quality. One of the ways that it accomplishes these effects is through its GABAergic qualities.

Reishi (ganoderma lucidum) is an adaptogenic mushroom often revered for its stress reduction and sleep improving qualities. While we do not know all of the mechanisms through which Reishi accomplishes these effects, we have found that Reishi promotes sleep through a gut microbiota dependent and serotonin involved pathway.

Apigenin is a flavonoid that exerts GABAergic effects and can be useful for reducing anxiety, relaxing muscles, and acting as a sedative. All of these qualities are useful for improving sleep quality.
